Accessibility Strategy
Specification: An app that helps amateur pilots plan their trips in advance, and also make changes during a flight
Accessibility Issues to Address : Memory difficulties and visual impairment
Recommendations:
- Include large, easy to read titles for each section. Users will be able to quickly scan the app, and find what section they are looking for easily.
- Group information into sections/pages. Having information in separate sections will allow the user to clearly understand what they are reading.
- Use appropriate language. By not getting too technical and sticking to the point with the writing, this will allow the content to be more precise.
- Colour code. Using certain colours for certain sections is a great way to draw the users eye to the spot they want (printed version)
- Have easy to perceive graphics. Use simple images and symbols to direct the user. This can be applied to both versions (printed and mobile).
- Choose fonts that are easy to read, and have different fonts for more important information. This will make it more obvious what sections are more important to see.
- Have a screen reader accessible that speaks in a clear, easy to understand voice. This will be especially helpful inflight, when the user needs to focus on flying and can clearly hear.
- Have a “night mode” feature like some IPhones do, for viewing in low light. This will be helpful for Louise when she is having trouble reading
- Bulleted summarized lists. This will especially help Timothy get the info he needs with out getting lost and confused.
